The GIQ Challenge Test has been designed for anyone who requires a GIQ passport and can provide Statements of Attainment for the 6 units of competency relevant to the GIQ Coal Surface course (and an additional unit of competency for GIQ Coal Underground). Specifically, it is for people who have current industry experience relevant to their role and have already completed a resources induction, for example, a BMA Core Induction, but wish to be able to work across a number of sites.
Delivery
The assessment can be performed online and simply confirms a person’s knowledge and currency of key concepts specific to GIQ. It offers workers a cost effective and timely way to challenge their existing skills and gain employment with multiple employers within the industry.
Course validity
Once obtained, the GIQ Coal passport remains valid for five years. This means individuals can refresh their induction at the discretion of mining companies, within a five year period.
